Jess Kidding is the perfect title for Jessica Fitzpatrick’s Atlantic Fringe Fest show — the comedic actress does just that.
For 45 minutes the young actress from Toronto attracts the attention of her audience by directly adding them into the evening’s routine.
Made up of several sketch comedy acts, Jess Kidding presents different characters and situations which play to Fitzpatrick’s different acting strengths. From yoga routines to chase scenes, it seems she is okay with being physical and placing herself under uncomfortable circumstances as long as it results in a laugh.
Please leave the kids at home as her selection of choice language and sexual innuendo as the punch line of many jokes makes this comedy show fit for mature audiences only.
Her blend of humour is quite ridiculous; if needing a comparison before coming out you can think of Internet sensation Jenna Marbles. And although some of the show was strange, other areas of it were smart and culturally appropriate for the current time as she interweaves references to Snapchat, Tinder, selfies and more as the basis for her various skits.
So timely, and with her bold but bare humour, the young Fitzpatrick is sure to make you laugh.
If you’re down for kidding around you can still join Jess at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia today at 9:50 p.m., Monday – 7:45 p.m., Tuesday – 8:30 p.m., Friday – 9:45 p.m., and next Saturday at 7 p.m.
